You've mentioned seeing sea turtles in your dreams before. Maybe this creature is a sort of spiritual guide? Well when I think about turtles I think about slow creatures that live within a shell. And a 'sea' turtle, while perhaps a bit more graceful, would symboze emotions in some sense because seas are often associated with emotional states of mind. But it also depends on how you see the sea itself. Maybe the sea is a place of tranquility for you and a sea turtle is an expression of that.
So a squirl in my mind represents a sneaky annoying cowardly little fur ball that eats things I plant... (can you tell I'm a fan of squirls?) Three things about squirls really stands out - they're cunning, shrewd and they are quick. The act of feeding a squirl means you are nuturing or enabling an aspect of your self (whether not its a good thing, depends on how you view squirls). The sea turtle, I'm going to say, is an expression of your emotional self. And by eating a cunning fast squirl, it is telling you to slow down. For example... just a random example... say you just made a big investment (something maybe a squirl might do you know since they do store their food), and you want to be as successful as possible and make big money as fast as possible. The turtle eating the squirl saying slow down here, you don't want to go too fast and end up losing your investment through some cunning, but brash reasons.
You could use the same analogy and apply it to relationships. Perhaps you've just met someone, someone new and you want to go forward in the relationship. By feeding the squirl, in this sense, you enabling yourself to maybe be put into a vulnurable situation and the turtle eating the squirl is your emotional self saying "wow there, lets slow down a bit!".
Shit man, I wish a turtle would comp on Coyote a coupla times.
