OK, here's one for you sagacious types to chew on for a while...

I've been having a series of very odd dreams. They started a while back, I didn't think anything of them b/c I often have weird dreams that don't mean much, or when they're dissected, are pretty much representations of the recent past or any issues I'm currently dealing with. As these have been getting more frequent that's obviously not the case.

The dreams in question vary in structure a bit, but they're very vivid and always involve WWIII, alien invasion, or just the general destruction of the world and society through rapid and traumatic means. Some would call them nightmares, but I don't wake up scared, I just wake up thinking 'eh, WTF?' During those dreams, I witness the destruction of the world as we know it. Sometimes I'm involved, usually I'm just a face in the crowd. The other people know I'm there and I can interact with things, so it's not like those passive observer sorts of dreams. *shrug* I'm just sort of there in most of them.

The other major theme is one of two things: either I'm not harmed in the least and my life doesn't change at all, despite the fact that cities are now smoking rubble and 90% of the population is dead, or I wind up actually ruling the remnants of the world with an iron fist after being installed by whatever survives. So whatever happens I and my pets are still just fine. *shrug*

The latest one of these was when I took a nap for a while last night. I was in this huge crowd, and there was this huge yellow and blue flaming ball headed straight toward earth. I knew it was some sort of alien weapon because these creatures--they looked like humans wearing gas masks in desert camo except they were about 8 feet tall on average and I somehow *knew* they weren't human--were ringing the crowd in armed vehicles and pointing their guns right at us. When the fireball crashed into the edge of this park we were in a good chunk of the crowd was incinerated on the spot, there were a few more injuries, and then the hostile army closed in and started shooting the survivors. I looked away at the moment of impact because the light was too bright, but I was completely unharmed. Hell, I didn't even get knocked down. And the enemy soldiers (for lack of a better term) just walked right by me. I knew they could see me, they just didn't bother me. One tapped me on the shoulder and told me to go home, I'd find everything just as I had left it. So I was walking down a street, threw a rock at one of the soldiers standing there, and he just looked at me. I walked closer to him, punched him in the leg, and literally danced a jig in front of this thing and he just stood there. A bystander said "you're killing us all, why not her?" and the soldier alien simply said, "She is the Mother of Us All and must be protected." And then the soldier shot the bystander and there was nothing left but a black stain on the pavement. And that was the end of that.

Another, older, version, had much the same thing going on. Cities were in flames, bodies were all over the place--it looked like a nuclear blast had gone off--and I was once again unharmed. Someone helped me to the roof of a building, people cheered, and somehow I knew from that point on I ruled the world--forever. Whatever happened there had made me literally unaging and immortal. This is yet another theme that pops up often, though not always.

I have no idea WTF these mean other than they're becoming more frequent. When I get dreams that increase in frequency they're usually premonitions, but of WHAT I've no idea. I've been doing some magical work to improve my financial situation (ok basically be independently wealthy--don't laugh but I really do need it as some of you know), so I'm wondering if it could be related to that. My health issues come and go and some days are better than others, but I'm in a hell of a lot better shape than I was six months ago--so I doubt that has anything to do with these. Maybe not though. Then again, it may be something else entirely. The last really vivid premonition I had (http://www.sacred-magick.org/index.php?showtopic=5286) made no sense until my neighbour got iced two weeks later. Turns out the house next door was a drug house (idiot me was naturally the last to find out) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/doh.gif) one of the guys who lived there owed money to his dealer, so they drowned him in the pool and his girlfriend found him a couple days later bloated and floating. So that explained that dream nicely. For the record, I do live in a nice upper-middle class neighbourhood, but the house next door was a rental and the owners weren't very strict on who they rented to. My other neighbours bought that house, initiated eviction proceedings as That Sort didn't belong here, and the shit hit the fan. But the neighbourhood is a lot calmer now, and the cop across the street now leaves his cruiser parked in the garage instead of in plain sight in front of the house.

In any case, if any of you have any insights, please share! I always love hearing what you guys have to say.

nice!

here we go

walking in your true form, or more likely in that of what posses you, i.e., the mother of us all

gaia or yin would be a nice names for you, as earth never changes

huh, but that's what i got

got any attachment toward the earth, or a particular spirit of the earth, or maybe a particular area or country?

i like it - it indicates localized warfare (nostradamus backs this up), and the earth shall indeed survive intact - huge population decrease

did you see the huge fleets of lights turning among the stars as viewed in the night sky, along with that foreboding that comes from seeing them, or as dark spots in the daylight sky with that same foreboding?

or the high flying one, with the foreboding?

It's funny you say that, as I really don't feel any special connection to the earth per se. My primary deities are Sekhmet and Anubis. People have told me that when they see me in their dreams they see me as either a luminous form that blinds them or a luminous woman with a lion's head, usually with a red mane (no surprise there as I'm a redhead) and either in a black outfit (once again no surprise as it's really the only colour I wear) or a red dress. Sekhmet's body emitted light in the old legends, and she was also known as Lady of Slaughter and the Lady in Red. She was always pictured with the solar disc above her head signifying her power over the Sun (some say she's the Sun incarnate), and was the goddess of war that protected the natural order. Think Athena with one hell of a temper and you get the idea. So maybe not Gaia, but the other symbolism fits your theory. The irony is I really can't go out in the sun without massive pain, and my internal clock makes me sleep during the day anyways so it all works out for the best in the end. *shrug*

Anubis is the Guardian through the Dark Night. Maybe I'm friends with him (sorry, it's more than that but 'servant' doesn't fit, neither does 'bound to him') for that reason. He's here to hold my hand and show me the way out in safety. He's a hell of a nice guy but I wouldn't want to piss him off...but he's as much the power of the darkness as Sekhmet is the power of the light.

I also find Set poking his head around from time to time and checking on things, as well as Horus, Isis, Selket, and the whole pantheon. *shrug* But I've yet to find an Egyptian deity that I didn't love or didn't get along with, so...

As for any attachment to a particular area or country? Not really. My family goes back roughly 1200 years, I'm about as European as you can get. My family came over on the Mayflower, though, so for me I guess North America is the old country. *shrug* I like Japanese and Chinese culture, but there's no real great pull for that either. Each place has its pros and cons and none is particularly better than the other.

Personally I don't find the idea of a huge population decrease that scary. There are approximately seven billion people on this earth and we've exceeded our planet's carrying capacity for our species. The coming times are going to suck, esp. if you're unfortunate enough to be one of the 3 billion or so that lives on less than a dollar a day cos those are the ones that always get shafted first, but the shortages will eventually hit everyone. I don't think it will be so bad in the richer countries--not because of money, although that's part of it, but a lot of absorbing the shock will come with higher levels of general education, giving women economic independence, and most importantly, delaying childbearing and having fewer children if any at all. Some people now may think of the Time After as a dystopian nightmare--what I see is a society much along the lines of Brave New World with widespread genetic engineering of the population, probably a caste system, rationing of resources as compared to now, and some form of highly centralised planning. The flip side is that everyone will get what they need to survive, society will be far more orderly than it is now, war will be gone and conflicts will be resolved far more maturely than now, and while there may only be 10% of the current population remaining, they'll enjoy a higher standard of living and probably greater freedom to pursue their dreams as a lot of the struggle for economic and physical survival will be removed. It'll be different, granted, but better or worse? I dunno--depends on what your values are.

As for any sense of forboding, no, not really. I'm not seeing fleets of ships in the sky either in the night or the day. *shrug* If anything I look at the night sky and think "damn, I really want to go home now and I can't."

"damn, I really want to go home now and I can't."

btdt, but home ain't up there, and that's the problem - then i found out about teh world gates due to telluric energy vortexes and got to go home again only to find out that things weren't as rosy as i remembered, but still better than here

they call us who remember 'indigo', but i know it better as the color of bernice's hair, aka the color of coma

interesting synchronicity:
"The goddess Isis used her hair as a rejuvenating fabric to bestow life on her dead lover, Osiris; and even the shadow of her hair, spread like the wings of an eagle, protected her child from harm. The constellation Bernice's hair -a pretty cascade of stars lying between Boötes and Leo -is said to be the hair of an Egyptian queen who lived in the third century B.C. and was married to her brother, Ptolemy III Euergetes. Soon after the wedding, Ptolemy III went off to war in Asia, and Bernice swore that if he returned alive and victorious she would sacrifice her hair to the gods. I don't think her motive was that the gods needed chignons, but the all-too-human belief that nothing good happens without the requisite amount of sacrifice or punishment. On Ptolemy's safe return, she offered up her long hair in the temple of Aphrodite near present-day Aswan. but the next day, mysteriously, the hair vanished. Soon the Alexandrian mathematician and astronomer, Conon of Samos, alerted the king to a swarm of stars he had seen near the tail of the constellation Leo, and his conviction that they were the queen's hair, set in the heavens to commemorate Ptolemy's victory. What really happened to Bernice's hair, we will never know. (Perhaps Conon secretly had a crush on Bernice, and wanted at least to possess her hair, an intimate par of her.) But its discovery certainly was timely."

Heh. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Thing is that this is simply one world among many, and one dimension among many. Things may not be as rosy 'out there', but like you said, it's better than here. This world isn't the densest out there--there are worse ones if you can believe that--but I dunno, I get the feeling that for me this world is scraping the bottom of the barrel and I quite literally could not go any lower even if I wanted to. *shudder* For me, home IS up there...somewhere...

I also know that for me, I didn't volunteer for this life as a lot of beings who are here did. I got drafted. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/Gigakach_02.gif) The flip side is that this is more or less my final exam--this much I have been shown. I pass and I'm done here forevermore. I fail and around we go again. *sigh* So far I think I'm doing fine, but you can insert the cliche of your choice as to not judge anything until it's finished.

I dream of this often. What is its meaning? Circles of lights revolving slowly in the night sky, feeling of dream... Yeah.

OK, kids, it's happened again.

This time I was on a military spaceship. We were docked, and it was basically a tourist attraction. If you've been to Baltimore, the whole atmosphere was sort of like those tours they give of the original USS Constitution in the Inner Harbor.

Anyways, it started off with one of the crew members going after me for some reason. The crew were all robots, think Ashe or Bishop in the Alien series and you pretty much get the idea. Anyway, one of them went batshit and went after me, and one of the crewmates pulled him off me while telling him to 'calm down, she's just like you.' I managed to scratch him and get some hydraulic fluid--that white milky stuff--on me, but she thought it came from me when I fought him off. In reality I didn't suffer a scratch.

After that little incident, the first tour group of the day was let in. The tourists were human, and they had no idea all military personnel were actually androids. It seemed in my dream that they weren't supposed to know this, probably to keep national morale up for whatever. I don't know why, it just was. Well, the guide (a robot, natch) began the tour, and as soon as she started her intro spiel, the red warning lights started going off everywhere and the PA started screaming a warning. This is also the point where I found out *I* was the captain of the ship. Fun, eh?

Well, then they put up the red velvet ropes to restrict the tourists as the guides made them all sit on the benches in the intake area. The tourists were good, they thought this was just part of the show. Those on the ship knew it wasn't. They pulled me aside and told me what we were up against. The tourists were not told this of course. Well, then one of the tourists had a big Dalmatian on a leash and it broke the leash and got through the ropes. The guide just calmly turned and shot it, as I knew what we were up against could use any animal housecat size or larger for food or reproduction. Some little girl started crying about her doggie, and I heard her father (evidently the dog's owner) say that Spot was old, this was its time, and it was kinder than him dying of old age which is what the dog apparently was staring down. *shrug* Anyway, I was trying very hard not to giggle at this, for some strange reason I thought this remarkably amusing.

I went over to a console and punched in some instructions about what the ship had picked up. I got a screen that said 'Threat: Biological' with the curled Alien queen from the Alien 3 poster. So this is what we were up against----basically the aliens from the Alien series but a hell of a lot smarter and now individually conscious, unlike the extra-large insects they were in the films. Seriously, look up 'digger wasp.' The Aliens were basically four-legged and badass social insects. Anyway, this was the beginning of hell.

The tourists were sitting ducks. Whether or not this was planned, I don't know. But they were killed in record time. The creatures went after anything moving, robots and humans alike. It didn't matter to them--their mission was to destroy the human species and anything we created, like the robot staff. One of them had killed one of the crew's cat and was playing with its skin like a hand puppet and flapping it around, almost like it was trying to understand what it was. The crew member who owned the cat started freaking out and the creatures went after her, shearing her head off and reducing her to scrap metal. I noticed I could walk among them without getting harmed or indeed noticed, and when some of the other robots noticed this, the reply was the same as all my other dreams like this--She is the mother of us all and cannot be destroyed or even harmed. The world could end, and once again in this dream it was implied to have done just that, but I was once again the sole survivor and my own personal life and everything in it was just dandy and wasn't interrupted in the least.

This is confusing. It would make a hell of a good science fiction story but I'm a lousy writer. And while I'm a fan of the Alien movies, I've grown bored with them and it's been a good while, like at least a year or two, since I've watched any of them.

Maybe this is unrelated, maybe not, but somehow I get the feeling we're on a technological threshold that isn't being talked about. Maybe it's the technological and/or genetic control of society, maybe it's nature finally kicking our asses. I don't know. But this had the feel of a premonition, like the other dreams did, and whatever it means, it's BIG.

Times like this I wish I could lucid dream again so I could figure out wtf this is all about. I lost that ability as a teenager when I thought dreams were more entertaining as a passive participant. Boy, was I stupid. *sigh* (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wallbash.gif)

Any thoughts/ideas/rotten fruit?
