interesting - my thoughts, though not cm:
wiki says: "the law of contagion is a type of magical thinking that suggests that once two objects have been in contact, they continue to affect each other even when their contact is broken. This "law" is the basis for the belief in things like voodoo dolls (where a doll made with the hair or clothing of a victim is purportedly used to affect the victim) and many methods of clairvoyance, where an article of clothing or other personal item is used by the medium as a "focus" for seeing or communicating with the (deceased or missing) owner."
so you're wondering how much effect your old teacher has on you now - immense and eternal, or dissolving over time? - hmmm - a teacher would hope that something of them 'rubbed off' on their student, and a student usually aspires for such a thing until they become teachers themselves, then hopefully continuing the tradition
if all things have equal magical ability, then transference isn't required, but if they have no equality, then would magical ability be transferred at contact?
rubbing a sore, or a hurting tooth, with a bean, then burying the bean - as the bean rots, so does the sore rot? -no? - so the result seems to be affected by the desire on the part of the magician - i had never heard of it as a 'law', but more as a 'conveyed intent', where dissimilar objects carry the intent, and transferred, through physical contact - law of transference?
so to have sex with lillith is to inherit lillith's immense magical ability?
is that how harry potter got the transference from lord voldermort when he brained harry (making jkr a very informed gal)?
what about the other direction? - does physical contact, lets say sex, with a cretin cause a decrease in intelligence? - love a deaf or blind (or bound) person makes you deaf or blind (or bound)?
very interesting, thanks!
