standard verbs, backed with total and complete faith that they will work

some say that god created (and maintains) through the same system

like telling some strange dog to sit or roll over, and having complete faith that they will do it (because you just said the word)

interesting, working like a verbal sigil?

i, and i seem to remember that others, have had dreams like this before

oh god, cat just took a monster dump and i have to evacuate for awhile- whew, what the hell did that cat eat!?!?

so what would be the verb to stop this smell??? - gak - bye

Well, the only reason I'd think a dog would sit if I told it to is that "sit" is a common command to instill in dogs.

and that's the whole point - did god at creation instill in the creation a programmed response to certain words?

or would it be numbers, but in this idea it would be words, and those words would do stuff, as long as you had complete faith that they worked

ah, but what is the language of god the creator? sumerian?

Reminds me a little of the novel Snow Crash, which brings up a similar concept. I think it's possible, although I don't believe in God - perhaps certain words or phrases bring up certain responses due to how our nervous systems are put together; a little like a picture of humans mating brings up a certain response in most people. First example I could think of, okay... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) The author of Snow Crash also thought the language would be Sumerian, although I note that Egyptian is just as old - or perhaps older.

I always wanted to major in Sumerian (well, I guess it'd be Assyriology, or maybe... archaeolinguistics?), but money has too strong a grip on this unenlightened brain. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
