Do you think Bragging (bragging about "occult abilities") actually hinders or stops you from authentically developing your psychic abilities? Whats your opinion on this.

It depends on how one describes 'bragging.' There's a very fine line between being confident in one's abilities and being boastful, and what looks like confidence to one person may seem boastful to another. So this is something to take into consideration.

If someone can *actually* do the things they're bragging about, sure, let them brag. If they can't they're just going to look like an ass and Lord knows there are plenty of those out there. On the whole, though, I don't think it's helpful as it encourages people to be content with the progress they've made and then stop. Be content, enjoy the fruits of your labours, but then realise there's a time to move on, too.

I think it depends on the attitude and context of the bragging. If a person just boasts about their abilities and accomplishments they just look bad and it can hurt their credibility, since most people tend to not believe braggarts. If some is in of help and you brag by telling them the things you can do for them and do it in a way that is not smug I think that is a good thing and a person would be more likely to rely on you.

Bragging, self inflation, triumpth in ones own capabilities, always watchful of people who feel the need to state that they're something, if you are then you're in a state of being and have no need to wear it about yourself. The fact that you need to show off to others only shows that theres a part of yourself, some insecurity, that you haven't faced up to yet... a hurdle you have yet to navigate deeming your triumpth a faulse one as when you've passed it you'll have no need to brag but would rely on a more sturdy sence of.. ummm... how'd you put it?... self conviction.

Never quite who they say they are braggarts... self deluded of sorts... the higher up you are the more down to earth you are (or have to be)... as above so below as the maxim goes. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/baby.gif)

To Will To Dare and To be Silence or something like that?????

I'm of the opinion that bragging can lead to energy dispersal. That being countered with, that is the standard answer given to keep the work private and not opened up to the general public. Disclosure, in the past (and not so distant past), has lead to some fairly onerous reactions...ranging from ridicule to death. The act of bragging usually comes about when one is feeling low self esteem and this is offset by bragging about ones knowledge or ability in order to garner attention or praise. Bragging often utilizes the distortion of the truth to various degrees, depending upon the bragger and the situation at hand. Sometimes the bragging is done whilst under the impression that the brag as being 100% legitimate. In any case, it is primarily used to glorify or engrandize an event or action to the benefit of the bragger or an associate.
There may be a valid basis for bragging but ofttimes it is not. Power loss due to bragging may or may not occur...because it may be a moot point to begin with. If used to establish ones 'pissing rights' in an organization, forum or social circle the bragger will most likely not lose anything if there was something there to begin with. Alot of 'ifs'... We will all of us brag about something in our lives. This doesn't mean that we are trying to deliberately hoodwink or mislead others...but it most likely means we are looking for support, validation or a 'place' to hang our hats.

Discussion of a topic will not hurt a magical process before its inception, IMHO, but does damage after the process begins...dispersing the collected energies by making the process a focus for alot of minds to dwell on.

This can have disasterous effect. Unless you can coordinate this focus toward the goal intended you are corrupting the original base and you lose control or even defuse the act before completion. This is merely a train of thought/opinion and I'd be open to hearing alternative viewpoints. Let's see what transpires! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

yeah thats a good point bym...energy dispersal indeed...how does the saying go? saving your breath to cool your porridge...? yesh much well groomed sense. On that point, establishing ones 'pissing rights', eheh, isn't all that impressive to anyone except for the one writing his name in the snow (lqtm). The loudest wheel is the most troublesome wheel, right?

Now you make an interesting point (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I'm wondering if people's negative attitudes (eg their thought patterns) can psychically interfer with your magicakal workings because thoughts have energy? (Especially if its negative torwards you?)
