I had an experience last week where I 'woke up' in the night and decided to go to the bathroom. The only thing was that my legs felt like they were made of lead, and I was experiencing this strange surging energy sensation as I walked - it was quite jarring and pretty unpleasant. I It felt like I was walking through molasses. I can't actually remember being in the bathroom, and the next morning when I woke up it occurred to me that perhaps it wasn't my physical body at all that had got out of bed. Was this perhaps an OBE?

it could very well have been. ive experienced similar sensations while i projected. then again, you body gos into temporary paralysis when you fall asleep, you may have just been feeling the after affects of it when you got up to do your business. even if that was the case, you were still very close to twilight...-valkyrie

Short answer: Maybe, maybe not. Impossible to tell really.

Sometimes people experience out of body sensations as a part of sleep paralysis. Its the most common explaination for OBE phenomenon. If you don't know, sleep paralysis occurs during the delta phase of the sleep cycle where a person awakes and becomes fully aware of their surroundings but they are either totally or partially paralized. At the same time many people are still in what's called a hypnagotic state where they can experience dream like sensations as hallucinations.

That said its totally possible you simply dreamed the whole thing. But at the same time I wouldn't rule out the possibility of an OBE either. I do think that if it is possible to have an OBE, in the literal sense, then it would make sense that sometimes the body and mind accidently induce such states if conditions are just right.

I dont know acid probably OBE and sleep paralysis have nothing in common but who knows they maybe connected,I used to have sleep paralysis some years ago accomapnied with the feeling of another entity present with me,and probably causing the paralysis, the delta phase you describe is when the person is at his weakest state and would be ready for hypnotic suggestion,From my limited knowledge that is mostly when supernatural events occur, which some people call ( twilight sleep),i have experienced what occultists call incubus in this state, the small demonic entity that sits on the person's chest and cause paralysis and nightmares,OBE is a conscious or unconscious experience which the astral body leaves the physical body and wanders away from the body,I never had the two experiences together, but its quite possible, sometimes i sleep and in the phase where Rapid eye movement or REM i seen my room clearly and wandered in my apartment, sometimes i fly over buildings in my naighborhood and common places.
In another experience I had a sexual encounter or what is called succubus, while i was paralysed ,and i was lifted by something really strong and then i felt like a screw driver penetrating the top of my head,it wasnt painful but felt weird.

I practice astral projection alot, and that probably prevented the sleep paralysis from happening.

Hmm, thats pretty interesting because i have been practice projecting but no luck but i only been doin it for a week learning as much as possible. But i got up the other night and i was hot so i turned on my fan but i had the same feeling like tingling and whole body felt heavy. I remember getting up kinda its fuzzy but i dont remember ever turning the fan on or lying back down its weird. Glad you posted this though. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
