Christians (of some denominations) do this all the time, through prayer. They pray for Christ to help them with whatever problems, evoking his presence in their daily lives.

Agreed. Prayer among Christians is evoking Christ. In Pentecostal and Charismatic circles, one could also say that Christ is invoked and when someone feels "filled with the Holy Spirit" and thus manifests "gifts of the Spirit" (prophesying, speaking in tongues, healing, trancing out, and various other phenomena that otherwise occurs in the context of shamanism or other culturally defined forms of spiritual reverie).

In magical Christianity Christ also is evoked in circle casting, such as facing the South and intoning INRI. Also in medieval and early modern ceremonial magick (and also traditional European folk craft [ie, witchcraft] Christ and even the Virgin Mary are often evoked. So it does happen although not so much in post-19th century ceremonial magick or Craft of post-modern sorcery because the paradigm as well as cultural memory changed once the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and then Thelema and Gardnerian Wicca set new standards about what Reality was.

Hmm thank you all for the post i was just wandering. But wouldnt praying be just invocation of christ? When i said evocation i meant like actual physical manifestation of him such as you would another deity (sorry if that was confusing). But it seems that if someone tried this christ would be pissed considering in the bible witchcraft is looked down upon and regarded as devil worship of some sort. Especially in the eyes of MOST christians in modern day society. What are your ideas on this?

I've done this before in my own eccentric manner of reaching out and seeing if somebody will respond. An entity that appeared to be Jesus replied~ and frankly, he was fantastic and wonderful. I do try contacting him occasionally.

Hmm this is interesting did you communicate with the entity? If so what did you ask it? Just curious lol this is interesting. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

It was sort of a "hey there, I'm kind of not happy at all right now. er. yeah. talk to me? Sort of thing.

It entailed him basically being fairly optimistic and asking me questions about how I felt. It was honestly just a fairly nice conversation, nothing special. It did make me feel worlds better.

Well people like Dione Fortune and the lady who wrote a Course in Miracles thought they were evoking Christ. Plenty of Christians believe they are "evoking" when they prayer. They will tell you that they feel a presence--have visions-- and that the communicate with it and think that he does things to make his presence known. I know people of other faiths who believe the same thing about whoever they are praying to. They just don't call it "magick" or "evocation."

Hmm idk good thought. Personally if this was done i would not want to be the one to do it. And god would probably just send micheal down in his place to fight off lucifer again he's to scared to do it himself. I think that Lucifer would be better to evoke than christ as god in the bible does not like magick and the sort. And Lucifer is the light bringer the one who inspires creativity and progress and an open mind. But thats just my opinion not to offened anyone of course.

Probably, assuming you have the capacity to hold the attention of both.

Yeah very true this would seem to be a very complicated task. Plus you would have to do 2 rituals at once that could prove very hard for a single practioner. Just sayin. LOL.

The Roman Catholic Mass invokes Christ into the elements of Holy Communion, the consecrated host and wine, which are then ingested by the congregation. Hmmm.. would that be invocation or evocation?

Many New Agers also invoke/evoke a version of Christ -- which fundamentalist Chnstians would label a demon.

Hmm i did not know this i have heard similar things. I would consider that more of an invocation rather than evocation. Just curious what do you meana version of christ?

Well, the New Age concept of Christ is different from the Fundamentalist Protestant concept which is different from the Roman Catholic, etc. It's like how the ancient Greeks had copies of the gods for each city; there was a Zeus of Athens, a Zeus of Thebes, etc., like different versions of software. Whether these are regarded as aspects of a single god, or different entities depends on one's perspective.

Who knows?
Maybe they are the same entity!
Lucifer has been a light bringer.
Love him or hate him, he always has been doing that.
Also, according to Christ, he came here to bring the light.
Never say never.
Things are not necessarily what they appear to be.
Reality can be stranger than fiction.

Reality is only the human concept and ideals of perspective of the individual.
Recently I have concluded Christ was merely a prophet a great one was he a god no.
Lucifer is his own entity just as all the other angels demons entitys out there. I have concluded that you could evoke lucifer but Christ I do not believe possible IMHO. God is losely defined term anyway.

I mean, evocation and invocation are largely psychosomatic mind tricks. You're pretty much convincing yourself on many levels to the point that you can make a temporary paradigm shift that allows a stronger belief to occur, giving the entity power. I've evoked inanimate objects before and I've gotten results, its totally possible.
