Do you think it is a good idea to do several evocations/invocation rituals for one desired result.

For a cheap example say one is to gain friendship. So they called up a goetic demon charged them and then let them go do the work. The next day, one would invoke an enochian being to help with the same cause. The final day one might call up a lwa or orisha to acomplish the same goal. Note that all of these are done on different days and done in the procedures and forms which correspond to such working so the the goetic working is true to the grimoire, the enochian is true to the dee methods, etc etc..

I don't see why not. That's with a couple condition, I think. The two or so times I've done this or something akin to it, I've made sure to inform the second, third...so forth, spirits, that they're going to have some help from other quarters. It seems to me that the spirits don't mind so long as you give them a heads-up first. I mean, who mind a little assisstance with tough tasks now and then?
When we're doing the rituals we often times refer to other grimoires/books, so I don't think the spirits-that-be-mind getting some help. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blablabla.gif)

Working with the Orishas, better pay tribute to Eleggua before asking any other Orisha for anything. I don't see a problem with it, so long as the spirits don't collide, and whind up beating the S**t out of eachother. lol.

::Edit:: The Orishas are very jealous deities, so it wouldn't be wise to call them for a purpose, then go calling another, just some input.

I think that you'd have far too much free time on hand. LOL!

Seriously...
To what purpose? If you are so unsure of yourself, you could do 100 different rituals...
One of the so-called 'tricks' to the use of Magic is that you are resolved that your spellcasting has already done its job!
There really is nothing stopping you from performing all these rituals, in succession, with the same goals. Chris makes a good aside that the Orishas are very jealous entities and really don't care to mix with other energies... without being placated first. Technically, there may arise the problem of clashing magical currents. Some entities just don't get along! But, as long as the systems used aren't 'mixed' during casting, then there shouldn't be a problem. The World functions quite well with all its denizens practicing their many, diverse rites every day! The only one conflicted about the different ritual would be you, the caster. Which leads me back to my question...to what purpose?

I agree with Bym. If you are a decent magician you should only have to do the operation once to get your desired result. If you are not a good magician it doesn't matter how many times you do it, it will not work.

It gives me something to do and practice working with the spirits. Plus I enjoy trying to tackle a problem from all angles. I figured it would be similar to the same concept of using all the beings, spheres, and books to tackle an issue to leave nothing left. I don't know.. But I enjoy it either way.

Often time i think if you think about what you are trying to accomplish you will see that their is usually a push/pull energy to most problems/desires. However i would not recommend more than 2 evocations and they should be for substanially different views of the same problem/desire. Going to far could be a sign of your insecurity as a magiacian and the spirits will sense this.

From a scientific standpoint, this causes some problems cause how do you know that the one of the evocations was successful and the others simply 'practice'.

Hmm..good question. Some people believe that working multiple spells toward one outcome is prefered. Such as, some witches believe in the magickal number 3 (3 times a charm). They'll do the appropriate spell multiple times in order to gain their desired outcome. Usually in sequences of 1, 3, 7, or 9 times. Usually between 1 to 3 times. Chants are repeated also in this sequence.

From a personal stand point, I can say I've had success with both. I've worked only one ritual for an outcome and have had great results, and also have worked multiple rituals for another goal and have had some remarkable results. My advice, look for omens or signs your workings are going the way you want it to. Also, pay attention to your intuition. If you 'feel' the appropriate amount of energy and magick has been worked, then quit. Don't do one more "just for good measure".

When I did multiple workings, I did so because I felt that in order to obtain the goal, I needed the extra energy directed toward it, constantly sending out power and energy towards a specific goal. When I "felt" I had done enough, I quit my workings on that goal.
Don't mistake worrying and obsessing over a goal for sending energy towards a goal. If you 'worry' you'll sooner obstruct your magick and make it difficult to obtain, if not worse, make it go awry.

If you're working with entities to obtain a specific goal, usually making contact with them once through ritual is sufficient in getting your desired outcome across. You can create ways to contact them afterwards to continue to send thoughts of the desired outcome. Some work with just the sigil, or create a talisman to show the entity when invoked or created. That way when you handle the talisman you essentially contact the spirit.

It's all in a matter of personal preference.

Well if you are having succes in the first evocation why do anotherone...?
I think you did not have much succes in your evocations- so:less talking, more practicing!
Invocations do not have the effect that is wanted unless you are pleasing the entity invoked: so if You invoke God you must be pleasing to God,if you invoke Satan(God forbid!) you must be pleasing to him... if you are nor hot nor warm you won't have any results...because if today you invoke God and tomorrow you invoke Satan you will not please either one of them...so you end up with nothing....
