So, I don't really know where this topic falls, but I assume this is the closest spot.

I've been experimenting with mental servitors, which is a name I just made up for lack of a better term.
Basiclly, dealing with the fact that every person is multiple facets that make up an entire 'persona', I "created" (maybe activated would be a better word) a 'helper' to keep me on track (with school work, exercise, eating, money, etc). Basiclly it's a mean, disciplined part of myself that doesn't let me "do whatever I want". when I desire to slack, or go laze around it kicks in an cracks the whip on me.

Sounds kinda harsh, but for someone like me who has a 'I am my own master and will do as I please when I please' type affliction, such a helper aids in learning responsibility, management of time, resources and keeping deadlines/dates.

Just wondering if anyone else does this, or if its just a simple little trick or...well, anything. Is there a name for such a practice? I haven't had any issues or problems with it, but it does require renewal. First I let it go, but it wears thin after a month, but I think bi-weekly renewals would be the best.

Basic method of creation is mostly 'imagination' (which is a more...accurate term than visualization). So I meditate or clear my mind, then I think of what I want this helper to do, go over all aspects in minute detail, and imagine the situations in which they would apply. Then I "assume" the helper's 'persona' and speak (usually aloud) in it's voice, talking to 'me' as if I was another person in the room, saying what will be done ("I'm gonna help you save your money. Just trust me, listen to me. I won;t steer you wrong. You can do this, but you gotta trust me." etc). Repeat a few times in a row, do some cooling down or return to the normal world exercises, then I usually go to bed.

After a week (nightly) of this, the results begin to manifest in a passive and active way (passive as in lack of a want to spend all my money willy-nilly, active like a little nagging voice in my head).

So there you have it. None of this, reabsorbing stuff. Because the helper is more of an extension of yourself if it isn't regularly maintained as a seperate thing it will naturally reabsord into you.

In thoughts to the future, I suppose after continual use (this is my hope), the lesson the helper aids with will be taught and when it has no need it will also reabsorb. Or if you feel it has accomplished its task, conciouslly reabsorb it just by simple imagination/visualization or sheer willpower.

Thoughts and comments appreciated!

Haunted by ill angels only,
Where an Eidolon, named NIGHT,
On a black throne reigns upright,
I have reached these lands but newly
From an ultimate dim Thule-
From a wild clime that lieth, sublime,
Out of SPACE- out of TIME.

Greetings!
Sounds like a useful mechanism!
I have one word of caution (c'mon now...you think I'd just smile and not say anything? *grin*), that is the possible over-reliance on such a useful tool. You have 'objectified' this trait in order to help yourself deal with another trait in a neat way! (Very innovative) Just look for signs that the mental servitor is becoming more independent or is intruding where it is inconvenient. As soon as this becomes troublesome, quell it/absorb it. It's like a safe schizophrenic voice. As with the making of any servitor you are in command! Keep us posted on your experiences...it shall prove to be a very illuminating project! Very interesting! I wouldn't really call it a "servitor" since its actually inside of you and not really affecting anything outside of you. It's kind of like your splitting your subconciouness into pieces so instead of it giving you all this information at once which is near impossible to decipher it is just guiding you in what you specifically ask for... very useful! I also have a servitor that has to do with school but my methods of creating/using her are a bit more....controversal.If you want to look it up it should be under chaos magick, her name is Yampath. Anyways I will be sure to try out your technique sometime, it seems like it would be very effective. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/showoff.gif)
